Collectorabilia welcomes special guest Jon Provost Saturday November 30, 2024 at the Resch Expo

Jon Provost is a national treasure. The check shirt and jeans he wore for seven years as Timmy on Lassie hang in The Smithsonian next to Archie Bunker’s chair. Lassie continues to air in more than 50 countries and Jon still receives letters and e-mail from fans of all ages around the world.

Jon was already a seasoned professional when he won the role of Timmy at age seven. He was barely three when cast as Jane Wyman and Sterling Hayden’s son in “So Big”. During his career as a child actor and teen heart throb, he worked with some of the biggest stars in Hollywood: Grace Kelly and Bing Crosby in “The Country Girl”, Natalie Wood and Robert Redford in “This Property is Condemned”, Rod Steiger and Anita Ekberg in “Back From Eternity”, Clint Eastwood in “Escapade in Japan”, Kurt Russell in “The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes” and on television with Kim Novak, Jack Benny, James Garner and even with that famous talking horse, Mr. Ed.

By the time Jon turned 19, he’d worked in show biz 16 years and had seen it all. He left the only life he’d known for college in Northern California, eventually settling to raise a family in Sonoma County. He returns to Hollywood for occasional television and film work. Recently he gave voice to Spark, a robot in a new sci-fi film, “Colonials.”

Jon has received many awards in his 70 years in the business, among his favorites are a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, the Allen Ludden Humanitarian Award presented to him by Betty White, the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Youth in Film Association and a Genesis Award for Outstanding Television in a Family Series for a story he penned in 1990 for The New Lassie focusing on the inhumane treatment of research animals.

Jon’s 2008 autobiography, Timmy’s in the Well which he wrote with his wife, Hollywood writer Laurie Jacobson, has just been updated and re-released. And his love for dogs has led Jon to create the first in a new line of pet products: Spray, Mix ‘n Go! – to help with separation anxiety. Expect more from www.provostpets.com
